Librarians from Medellín exchanged successful experiences in Uruguay

They are Sara and Camilo. Sara, Technician of Digital Culture of the Park Gabriel García Márquez Library, Doce de Octubre, and Camilo, leader of projects of ICT adoption at MAKAIA. Both traveled to Uruguay for a week in the framework of the project Successful Experiences in Use of Technologies in Libraries of Peru, Uruguay and Colombia and of the activities of exchange of successful experiences, best practices in services development Librarians and south-south technical cooperation, implemented by MAKAIA.

Last May, we opened a call for librarians from the city of Medellín that develop innovative services using technology or had significant experiences in the implementation of access services to information and technology for communities who would like to share their ideas, best practices and success stories with colleagues in the region.

The selected person was Sara María López Muñoz, 26-year-old Audiovisual Communicator, of whom she has invested 3 working as a digital culture technique in Gabriel García Márquez Library Park, Doce de Octubre. She proved to be an empowered, leader, inspiring, sensitive and highly passionate for what she does and the communities she benefits. Sara feels a great affinity with sharing ideas, transferring her knowledge, traveling, meeting new people, and establishing lasting relationships with her colleagues in Latin America.


In the framework of this great opportunity, Sara, with the support of Camilo, creatively prepared a session of exchange of experiences and transfer of knowledge with librarians of the southern country, visited libraries and initiatives of access to The information of the country, also had the possibility to know their culture and other places of interest. All this experience will then be published on the library network portal and a feedback session will be prepared for librarians from the Medellin library system.
