A year of impact: how we expand opportunities in 2025 through technology, cooperation and innovation

At Makaia we close 2025 with the conviction to continue working so that more people and organizations have access to opportunities that allow them to transform their realities.

Through programs, training, digital platforms and connection spaces, thousands of people advanced in the development of skills, gained access to educational and employment opportunities, and strengthened their ability to take advantage of technology in their daily lives. At the same time, social organizations, micro and small enterprises were able to improve their management, expand their collaboration networks and find new opportunities for financing and growth.

This impact was achieved through the implementation of 17 programs and projects, which during the last year reached 28,093 people, 13,578 organizations and 612 micro and small enterprises, with a presence in 28 departments of Colombia and 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Throughout our 20 years of work, these efforts have enabled more than 121,000 people and 53,000 organizations to strengthen their capacities, and we have raised the awareness of more than 916,000 people on issues related to technology, innovation and social development.

These results reflect the impact of Makaia's work at different levels: people accessing more opportunities, stronger organizations and an ecosystem that is strengthened through innovation and cooperation.

People accessing more opportunities

Through programs such as the STEM Seedbed, BeTek, ConTigo Conectados and the Digital Skills School, we bring technology closer to children, young people, the elderly, women and teachers. The results of our theory of change measurement confirm this: 78% of the people benefited improved their digital skills and 94% apply them in their daily lives. Of the participants in the BeTek trainings, 61.7% achieved job placement and 68% increased their income.

We also launched Makedu (makedu.org), our asynchronous training platform for fundamental skills such as numerical reasoning and reading comprehension, with more than 787 registrations in its first year. And we took the first steps in our program to strengthen the digital autonomy of older adults.

Stronger and more sustainable organizations

Through our Resource Mobilization line - Nodoká, organizations in Latin America gained access to strategic information on financing, international cooperation and resource mobilization, improving their capacity to formulate projects and diversify their sources of funding. The measurement of the theory of change shows concrete results: 69% of the organizations increased resource mobilization and more than half were able to identify new donors or access new sources of funding.

The software donation program enabled social organizations to access key technological tools for their management, channeling more than USD 3.7 million in software licenses during 2025.
We accompanied the digital transformation process of social organizations and micro and small businesses to improve their management, productivity and impact. The accompaniment processes showed significant progress in digital culture, technological adoption and an increase in their digital maturity index of 62%, allowing them to optimize processes and better adapt to digital environments.

Tikso, a meeting point for the impact ecosystem

Tikso, our international event, brought together 570 participants from multiple countries, consolidating itself as a key meeting point for the impact ecosystem and promoting dialogue on technology, international cooperation and sustainability in the social sector.

These results also reflect the commitment and dedication of the Makaia team, which works every day to connect technology, knowledge and cooperation with the needs of organizations and communities. In 2025, this effort was also recognized at the international level with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a recognition that strengthens Makaia's participation in global spaces of dialogue and cooperation for sustainable development.

2025 was a year of learning, challenges and expansion of Makaia's impact, and we continue to work so that technology, knowledge and cooperation continue to open opportunities for more people and organizations in the region. We invite you to learn in detail about the results, learning and perspectives of the organization in the 2025 Management Report.
