The project of Digital Literacy for Seniors Over 50, In partnership with Scotiabank Colpatria, we seek to bridge the generational digital divide by empowering people over 50 to navigate the digital world with confidence and access technological tools that improve their quality of life. Through training, assessment, and support, we promote their digital integration, autonomy, and more active participation in an increasingly connected environment.
The training covers the basic use of computers and mobile devices, safe Internet browsing, handling communication applications, and accessing online services. The program not only improves digital skills but also promotes participants' autonomy and confidence in using technology in their daily lives.
How does the program work?
The program begins with an assessment to identify the digital skills and needs of older adults. Based on this, practical sessions are developed where they learn to use mobile devices and computers, surf the internet, communicate through apps, carry out online procedures, and strengthen their digital security. The entire process is accompanied by simple methodologies, guided exercises, and activities designed to increase their confidence, autonomy, and participation in the digital environment.
Why is it important?
-
Promotes social inclusion: enables older people to actively participate in the digital world and not be excluded from using tools that are increasingly necessary for everyday life.
-
Promotes independence and safetyBy learning how to use devices and navigate safely, older adults can communicate with their families, complete paperwork online, prevent fraud, and carry out their daily activities in digital environments.
-
Reduction in insulationDigital literacy helps strengthen social ties, enabling greater connection with others and access to virtual communities.
